This project was, at times, very challenging. We realized that we have just as many questions as we did when we started, like...

What makes a public intellectual? Is there a list of criteria? Should there be?

Who decides who can be a public intellectual? Doe we "elect" them, in that, do we decide who we give a metaphorical microphone to?

But we do think we answered the question: do public intellectuals exist?

We think yes.

We also realize our own biases definitely went into this project. There are no politically or socially conservative people on our site, and that was a deliberate, albeit biased decision on our part.
